Our NAME & Design
Ka Lā Kapu means "The Sacred Sun," which pays tribute to the sacred New Mexico Zia symbol as well as the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that we are so privileged to get to witness as New Mexicans.
In our logo, we use the tiare flower which is known to bloom all throughout the Polynesian islands and is considered a sacred flower to French Polynesian island, Tahiti. Its resemblance to the sun and the meaning behind our schools name is why it was chosen to represent the sunrise over the well known Sandia mountains in Albuquerque, where our school is located.
Culture
We want the people of New Mexico to be proud of learning and sharing a different culture within their state. In addition, we would like to give the Polynesian Community in New Mexico an opportunity to embrace, perpetuate and share their heritage.
